CASH awards for top performers in Mumoni volleyball

 YOUNG volleyball players in Mumoni Ward, Kitui County welcomed New Year 2022 in style as they took part in volleyball competition organized by Mumoni MCA Johnson Kanandu.

Kitui County Executive Committee Member, CECM for Sports and Culture Helena Ken graced the final day of awarding the winners on December 31, 2021.

Mumoni MCA Johnson Mutua Kanandu organized the sporting event dubbed Hon Kanandu  Tournament at Kalamba Muyo.

Kanyoeni team were crowned the champions of the volleyball tournament and were awarded KSh18,000.

They beat Katambauku volleyball team who contended with KSh15,000 as their cash award.

The third position was taken by Kalatine stars who were also not left behind in the shillings chase. They were given KSh12,000 for their determination to be champions in the games.

Mwingi Times has established that the games will take place every year.

Kanyoeni being the champions were also awarded a trophy, medals, two Mikasa balls and two pairs of uniform.

Katambauku and Kalatine clubs also got Mikasa balls and pairs of uniform.

Numbers four to eight also got cash awards.

To encourage those who did not feature at the top, the Governor Charity Ngilu-led government awarded a pair of uniform for each player who emerged numbers nine to 18.
