On Wednesday Comedian MC Jessy who goes by the name Jasper Muthomi and Journalist cum Public Relations guru Patience Nyange separately indicated they would contest for their respective seats on UDA platform.

MC Jessy is eying South Imenti parliamentary seat while Nyange is seeking to oust fellow journalist Granton Samboja, a first term Taita Taveta governor.

MC Jessy raised to fame as a co-host of the Churchill Show founded and ran by Kenya's comedy king Daniel Ndambuki. He's seeking to run against incumbent MP Kathuri Murungi.

"It's now clear where the vision is heading. After many days of consultative meetings with my South Imenti people, I have officially been invited to join UDA. The ground work that has been done has finally landed on the side of the winning team, " read a statement by the comedian on his Facebook page.

Nyange is a board member of Media Council of Kenya, country's media regulator. A former journalist, a long-time member of the Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK) and a renowned Communication and Public Relations expert in the country.

The duo is part of a battery of celebrities who have declared interest in the August 9 General elections.

MC Jessy was on Wednesday received by the DP at his Karen official residence. On her part, Nyange posted a photo wearing UDA branded regalia.

"Please join UDA. We even have a gift for you," she captioned the photo.

For months since Nyange declared to run for Taita Taveta top seat, she has been consistent in her campaign slogan put in a hash tag "#AminiaMama" as she traversed the hilly county that has a multiplicity of Kenyan diversities.

A gruelling campaign is expected to be staged between the two ex-scribes. Samboja, a former radio journalist and media owner was elected on Kalonzo Musyoka-led Wiper Democratic Movement party. He however immediately after the 2017 elections leaned to the Jubilee's ruling party before later decamping to ODM and lately supporting Raila Odinga's Azimio la Umoja.
