The youths
set on fire all campaign jackets belonging to Governor Waiguru and vowed
to block her from addressing any DP Ruto's rally in Kirinyaga.
Police
had hard time containing the angry youths with the call by the
administrators to plead with them to calm falling in deaf ears.
There
was calmness before the drama when a group of Waiguru
supporters arrived in the town and randomly started distributing the
jackets to locals.
The group was cornered by youths who grabbed the jackets from them and set them ablaze on the middle of the road.
The Waiguru's supporters who were tasked to distribute the jackets watched helplessly as the jackets were reduced to ashes.
Those who spoke to Mwingi Times said that they were angered by the governor's leadership citing lack of development.
"We
shall not relent until we make sure Waiguru will not address any of the
DP Ruto's rally. She has completely failed us ,"said one of the locals.
DP Ruto addressed several rallies in Kirinyaga County after church service at ACK Kianyaga.
Both Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and the County Women Representative Purity Ngirici accompanied the DP Ruto during his visit in President Uhuru's backyard.
