The dormitory which costed the government through Mbeere South CDF KSh 7Million has now turned to ashes.

It was to increase the school intake from 300 students to 600 and its destruction may now hinder the target.

The MP condemned the act terming it as big loss to the school, government and education sector.

"I have just received information that boys dormitory of St Thomas Aquinas Igumori Secondary School has been set on fire. The dormitory was built by Mbeere South NGCDF at a cost of Sh7 Million which I was to commission within the next few days.

Condemned

I want to condemn with the strongest terms possible the burning of the dormitory and school property. I urge the school administration, NGAO and Ministry of Education to do thorough investigation to bring to book the criminals of this awful act.

We further urge the ministry to come up with deterrent measures to ensure that this action is not repeated elsewhere in other schools”, said Mbeere South MP.

Other School administration should have meeting to know the moods in our schools to avert similar destruction in other Schools in Mbeere South constituency,” the MP wrote on his Facebook account.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established but it is suspected it was students who set it ablaze.

Both the principal and the area administration did not pick our calls to shade some more light on the matter.
