11 KILLED IN EMBU BUS ACCIDENT

 At least 11 people have been confirmed dead after a bus they were in plunged into River Thura in Siakago, Embu County.

According to Siakago OCPD Kivinda Kilonzo, the accident happened at around 8.30am when the bus developed mechanical problems whole plying the Kirie-Siakago-Nairobi route.

Police reports indicate that the bus ran out of fuel when it was climbing the hill towards Siakago town.

After the bus crossed Thura bridge, the driver left the passengers inside the vehicle and went to fetch fuel. After returning, he tried to reignite the bus. Sadly, it started tumbling downhill.

The driver’s efforts to stop the downward spiral of the bus failed. This resulted in the bus plunging into Thura river.

The injured were rushed to Siakago Level Four Hospital and Embu Level Five Hospital for treatment.
