The two schools are neighbours.  One of the six boys who trespassed into the girls’ school was beaten. The rest fled. The boy died later in hospital while receiving treatment. His demise is now a subject of police investigations.

Kiambu County Director of Education Victoria Mulili said that her office was collaborating with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) which sent a team to the scene of crime for a fact-finding mission.

The Kigumo Police Station Occurrence Book (OB) report on the material day reveals that the boys broke into Phoebe dormitory on Wednesday night. Upon sensing the intruders, the girls started screaming and this drew the attention of the watchmen, teachers on duty and institution’s head.

The boy was cornered and beaten up by the group. He was rushed to Kigumo Level Four Hospital in an unconscious state. He died while receiving treatment.

“In the process, five boys escaped unhurt while one identified as Brian Mbage, 17, was subjected to beatings by students and staff. He sustained injuries on the head”, the police OB report reads in part.

The boy was beaten up by the group using wood planks which police recovered from the scene of crime. His body was moved to Kigumo Level Four Hospital morgue.
