Speaking to the media, OCPD Yakan said that the injured were rushed to Mwingi Level Four hospital for emergency treatment.

He said no one died on the spot but there were unconfirmed reports that some may have died while being taken to the hospital or after admission. This had not been confirmed yet by the time we went to press.

The accident happened at Kavati area in Mwingi.  Kavati is located between Kasten and Nguni towns.

Alpha bus did not collide with any other vehicle during the accident.  It crashed on its own. When we asked Mr Yakan if the bus collided with another and its make and model, he said the bus was alone on the road during the moment the accident took place.

Hundreds of residents and visitors were seen milling around the collapsed blue Alpha bus which was lying on its side with blood sputtered on the tarmac. The injured had their limbs dismembered while the onlookers were heard praying and saying Alpha Bus Alpha Bus, Alpha Bus!
