Senator Kindiki rules out Mt. Kenya’s support for Raila, wishes President Uhuru well

The law professor said Raila will be a hard brand to sell to the mountain people after President Uhuru Kenyatta neglecting the regional development and above all ousting its leaders from the government to the advantage of the opposition party.

In a revelation of events that seem to pain the senator, he said Uhuru had asked them to remain calm during the first term and allow him shower with development projects the regions that had not overwhelmingly voted for Jubilee government like Nyanza, Western and coastal regions, so that they could have easier time clinching the second term of reign.

Then after being voted for the second term, Uhuru was to concentrate of developing Mt.Kenya region to set a legacy ahead of his retirement and would hand over the presidency mantle to his deputy William Ruto.

However, Kindiki said after Uhuru getting re-elected, he changed and turned against them totally disregarding the agreements they had together for the region.

To worsen the matter, Kindiki said Uhuru joined hands with their political nemesis “who had been insulting the president day and night for no reason”.

Uhuru would later use these Jubilee political enemies mainly drawn from the opposition to kick Jubilee top leaders out of their positions starting with deputy senate speaker Kithure Kindiki, Majority Leaders Kipchumba Murkomen and Aden Duale and others.

Apart from the leaders being dislodged from their party leadership positions, others were kicked out of their various House committees they were sitting in with accusations of being disloyal to the party.

Projects

Kindiki noted that the president did not even bother to visit Mt. Kenya East to appreciate being re-elected or even to explain to the people why he has not initiated life-changing projects for the region unlike other places.

Thus, the Tharaka Nithi senator said the president should be cautious of people deceiving him that all was well with him whereas in the real sense ground shifted long ago as evidenced by the recent by-elections.

“The recent Juja and Kiambaa by-elections in Kiambu County where president’s candidates have been defeated in humiliating elections loss should be an eye-opener and a clear indication that all is not well with him,’’ Kindiki said.

He warned the president that he was likely to get humiliated by the mountain in case he happens to popularize ODM leader when he visits the region.

However, he said that besides the humiliations they have gone under the president and his battalion, they respect him as the Head of State and there shall not come a time they disrespect him as many have been expecting.

His speech comes after UDA party retreat at Nanyuki in Laikipia County where over 45 leaders from Mt. Kenya Kenya region led by the senator resolved to back William Ruto as the 5th president of the Kenyan republic when Uhuru retires next year.

Kindiki was speaking when he led a church fundraiser at Mitongoro EAPC church in Chiakariga ward of Tharaka Nithi County.

Other leaders present during the fundraiser were Tharaka Nithi Women Rep Beatrice Nkatha, former Tharaka Nithi governor Samuel Mbae Ragwa and former Chiakariga MCA Zackary Mpanda.

Nkatha, an ardent follower of Ruto, urged residents to rally behind the deputy president William Ruto and support his presidential bid come 2022.

However, above all that, senator Kindiki said they are praying and wishing well for the president during the remaining time of his tenure as the Kenyan president but urged him to retire peacefully.
