The County Assembly of Kitui deputy clerk Ms Lucy Waema has ordered immediate stoppage of staff recruitment in the Governor Charity Ngilu-led Executive.
In a letter dated August 26 seen by Mwingi Times, the deputy clerk who was acting for the Clerk of the Assembly said “As a follow up on the same, you are hereby advised to immediately stop any further staff recruitment until the issues raised in the motion and the letter from the controller of budget forwarded to you are addressed/ adhered to, failure to which the Assembly will have no option but to take action against you”, she says in the signed and stamped letter also copied to Chairperson of the Implementation Committee of the Assembly.
The recruitment appears to be in violation of adherence to Kitui County wage bill with statutory requirements.
The County Assembly of Kitui is mandated to oversight the Executive as well as representation and legislation. It is also tasked with improving institutional capacity of public offices.
