Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana mourned former Kibwezi MP Kalembe Ndile as a resilient person who beat many odds to become a champion in business and politics.

Prof Kibwana recalled how Ndile rose from a chairperson of Makueni District Local Authority to Kibwezi MP. He was later elevated to an Assistant Minister for Tourism and Wildlife docket during Kibaki administration.
During President Kenyatta’s term, he served as a member in statutory boards.
Another quality the Makueni county boss remembers Ndile for is his fearless fight for land rights of squatters. “I remember him as a fearless land rights activist where at one time we joined hands to agitate for land rights for the people of larger Kibwezi constituency”, wrote Prof Kibwana on his Facebook page.
Ndile was a defender of the poor who were being dispossessed of their land in Kibwezi, argued the law professor.
Kibwana reveals that he mentored Ndile by encouraging him register as a private student for the Global Student Experience (GSE). After teaching him from his home, the former Kibwezi legislator posted fairly good grade.
In honour of Mr Ndile, Kibwana says that Makueni County residents should get title deeds. This will be in line with implementing the First Makueni Forum on Land Rights.
Wiper Democratic Movement party leader Kalonzo Musyoka eulogized Kalembe as an astute, charismatic and honest leader who had the interest of Musangi at heart. “He was always a fighter who spoke his mind and one that stood for the common mwananchi”, says Kalonzo.
“In Kalembe Ndile we have lost a true hustler of our time. A man who exemplifies true selflessness”, said Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu.
