Ruto’s hypocritical, says Kalonzo as party picks Kavindu Muthama for Machakos senatorial polls

The Wiper Democratic Movement has nominated Ms Agnes Kavindu as its flagbearer in the upcoming Machakos senatorial by-elections.

The seat was vacated after senator Boniface Kabaka died.

WDP leader Dr Kalonzo Musyoka took the opportunity to castigate DP William Ruto saying he is a hypocrite who used the 50 per cent jobs allocation in Jubilee government to have his tribesmen chosen in key government slots unlike President Kenyatta who adopted a national face when it came to key State appointments.

“Who doesn’t know that President Uhuru Kenyatta got 50 per cent of government and William Ruto got another 50 per centre of the government? At least Uhuru’s appointment reflected a national leader”, said Kalonzo.

Kalonzo concurred with Uhuru’s sentiments that it is time for another community to lead Kenya unlike the current one where only two tribes (Kikuyus and Kalenjin) have produced presidents since independence.

Ms Kavindu is an ex-wife to former Machakos senator Johnstone Muthama. Muthama is the current chairman of UDA (United Democratic Alliance) which supports DP Dr William Ruto. Its party symbol is a wheelbarrow and has been rallying around with Hustler movement slogans.

Ms Kavindu, 64, is a member of the Building Bridges Initiative taskforce.

Pundits say the messy divorce of the Muthamas will dominate Machakos senatorial by-elections.

Ex- Machakos senator Senator Muthama has an expansive business fortune which his estranged wife demands a 50 per cent share in the matrimonial assets.
