Munuve says that Katui leaves behind a solid legacy having worked as National Government Constituency Development Fund Chairman representing Tseikuru District in Mwingi North CDF Committee.

“First of all, she is my daughter. She was the CDF Chairman when I was MP and she worked well. She was a great leader” says Hon Munuve in a phone interview with Mwingi Times.

MP Munuve has sent his condolences to Katui’s children and the entire family. He is currently the Chair of Sasra (Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority) board, a State parastatal.

Ms Caro Munanie, a Tseikuru resident who benefited from Munuve bursaries wrote on her WhatsApp status “The woman who I have known since childhood. Through the secondary school journey, you gave me more favour than I could expect. #bursary#. A heroine indeed. It is so unfortunate that you are no more. May your soul rest in eternal peace, she said”

Bold leader

A former Nation reporter in Mwingi during the time Munuve was MP describes Katui as an outstanding and ardent defender of former MP Munuve. “My heartfelt condolences to her family. I covered Mwingi North CDF events when she was the acting Chair after the then Chair Fr Marete left. Katui was a bold and fiery leader”, says Mr Benedict Mutuku.

Mutuku said Ms Mwenga defended the way CDF funds were being distributed to projects and bursaries to beneficiaries.

Katui, the veteran businessperson emphasized on how as a committee they were dedicated to supporting needy students across the vast constituency.

She oversaw the rollout of a programme initiated by the MP to support students who scored over 350 marks in KCPE where each student benefited with a bursary of a minimum of Sh30, 000 each year in secondary school studies.

Another Mwingi based reporter who covered Katui said she was very key in Mwingi North politics given she was a major opinion leader. "She is among few women who have been shaping politics in the constituency. May her soul rest in peace", said Boniface Kanyali.

"She was a strong pillar not only to her family but to the society in general. May her soul rest in peace", wrote Ms Valeria Matiti.
