A KMD report obtained by Mwingi Times says that the Coastal Strip will experience morning and evening showers for the next seven days starting  today.

Coastal Strip covers the following counties: Mombasa, Tana River, Lamu, Kilifi and Kwale.

The rain stated at around thirty minutes past three o'clock in the evening and went down heavily for around one and a half hours.

Effects
-Caused a little traffic along the highway.
-Good for the agricultural hinterlands of Mwavumbo, Samburu South and parts of Kasemeni.
-Lots of surface runoff on the urban areas of Mariakani, Mukilo and the adjoining agricultural areas.
-Intensive soil erosion since most of the rural areas along the highway have been deforested to supply makaa to Mombasa Mjini. The soil is also mainly deep sandy and a few parts are loomy/black clay.

Other relevant facts
-Mariakani is a border town on the Kilifi - Kwale political boundary with larger part of the economic zone being in Kilifi.
-No flooding yet, but it is anticipated in the low-lying areas of Mwavumbo

- No damage is anticipated though since most of the low-lying are are inhabited because of the low population density of the the said areas.
