Ngilu has failed to deliver water to Kitui residents, MP Mulyungi

Mwingi central MP Dr. Gideon Mulyungi now claims that Kitui governor Charity Ngilu has failed on her mandate as the governor for Kitui county, by failing to deliver water which is the most essential need among resident.

Speaking at Kivou village during the launch of the project which will see every homestead in an entire village benefit with a water pan, the area MP claimed that the county government under Ngilu has failed to deliver water which is a devolved function.

"Even a to repair a broken water pump in a borehole at Kivou is something hard for the county government, this is wahy we had to rely on services from the national government to provide water to our electorate," said Dr. Mulyungi.

The project which is funded by the national government through the authority will see more than 130 water pans constructed at a cost of about sh. 200 million and would largely reduce the distance which residents used to trek in search of water from an average of more than 5 kilometers to a few meters.

Dr. Mulyungi however, urged the county government of Kitui to intervene and pump more resources into water which is a devolved function and to undertaking other less important projects .
