Did Kitui chiefs violate user privacy during BBI endorsement?

Kwa Vonza/Yatta Ward MCA John Mutuku Kisangau alias Mbaki Mbaki has claimed that the BBI endorsement signature collection in Kitui County has been dogged with irregularities.

In a tweet seen by Mwingi Times, Mbaki accused local agents of colluding with government officials to steal data from the record books they have without the consent of the users of MKOPA and Azuri agents.

“Our beloved chiefs were tasked to collect these signatures from members of the public in their jurisdictions.

To save their jobs, majority of them have had to liaise with Mkopa & azuri agents to get names &ID numbers in their sales register. I feel for them but what to do really?... they need to keep their job under any circumstances.

The problem is they had no consent from the mkopa/azuri clients to list their details in support of BBI”, writes Hon Kisangau.

To underline the seriousness of the crime if proven to be true, the Kwa Vonza/Yatta MCA tagged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), IEBC and EACC as well as the House on the Hill, StateHouse among other prominent names including Interior CS Fred Matiangi.

Yatta-Kwa Vonza is in Kitui Rural Sub County.
